China targets first batch of Smart Cities

Feb 2013 – Smart Cities in China –  The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) released a list containing the first batch of pilot smart cities [90, included on list] …



Compared to the big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, some regional cities mainly focus on promoting transportation, electricity, water, gas, sewage, waste disposal, landscaping and environmental monitoring in order to enhance the urban infrastructure intelligence level.  … Currently, the total number of smart cities in the rest of the world is less than within China. A Credit Suisse report said that China may pump in as much as 2 trillion yuan (US$ 315 billion) in investments to boost the economy.
